The Washington Recovery Alliance is partnering with Facing Addiction with National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence to support communities across Washington to organize around and advocate for mental health and addiction recovery in their regions and statewide.
To this end. Facing Addiction will be offering a Community Organizer training targeted to King and Pierce Counties (though all are welcome!) which will cover the who, what, why and how of community organizing and will walk participants through a community needs assessment to determine community goals. Facing Addiction will then help each community craft strategies and tactics to achieve their goals. The WRA will provide ongoing technical assistance as well.
The project will officially launch with a training on Saturday, January 12th, 2019- anyone interested in the project and in learning about community organizing is welcome to attend. Lunch, snacks and coffee will be provided!
